Blessed Trinity Catholic School recognized that there was a need to provide research based special education services to students who who are differently abled. The purpose of the Saint John Paul II Program is to identify and support students with specific learning needs so that every child can meet his or her academic potential. Our motto: “Crescat Scientia Vita Excolatur” means “Let Knowledge Grow, Let Life Be Enriched.” This motto embodies the idea that each student will be fully enriched when his or her educational needs are fully met.
The Saint John Paul II Program allows Blessed Trinity to open resource room classes to address students with Specific Learning Difficulties, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and other exceptionalities. Each resource class has a full-time teacher with experience and appropriate educational background in the area of special education. Students will be In the resource class for either English Language Arts courses and/or Mathematics courses dependent upon the students’ needs. They will be integrated with all general education students in the remaining courses, special area courses, worship, and other school related activities. All Saint John Paul II Program students will be encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities, including the multi-disciplinary sports and academic clubs program.
Appropriate modifications and accommodations will be made for each individual student as needed and upon availability of resources. The goal, however, is to prepare each child to successfully mainstream at the appropriate time while fostering self esteem and maximizing academic potential.
1. Documented Psychological Examination performed by a licensed Psychologist or Psychiatrist. 2. Documented evidence of learning needs or disabilities. 3. Completion of Blessed Trinity Catholic School’s admissions process. 4. Transfer documentation from previous educational program. S. Interviews to determine the students’ conditional acceptance to the program.
